I may have to start homeschooling if they can't get the streets clear enough to open school. The funny thing is I have considered it before. For a long time I thought that homeschooling was nuts. I have some family that does it and the kids always seemed too well behaved, to the point that they didn't really seem like kids. But through a lot of research I have come to find that each homeschool is as different as each family.
Now you're probably wondering what brought this all on. There have been a few times where I have wondered what on Earth they were actually doing at school. Especially when Ethan brought home an order form for those stacking cups. The kind that you stack up and as fast as you can and then collapse them even faster. He said they had done them in PE! I'm pretty sure Dale and I had one of those what the? looks all over our faces.
There are numerous debates over which one is better and at that end of the day you just have to do what feels right and works best for your family. For me its school (and I'm not just saying that because we've been snowed in for a week). What I choose to do is supplement. Dale and I decided a long time ago that school was just the stepping off point for our children's education. My kids know that I want to know about what they did and that I will just keep pestering them until they tell me.
I'm sure every homeschool and public school parent goes through the same questioning as to whether they are making the right decision. So if you are on the fence do some research and ask around. Then be at peace with your decision. I am. So today on our 5th school day at home we are going to make Valentine boxes and do a few worksheets from their workbooks. I'm going to let them help with cooking and cleaning and have them sort all the socks in the clean laundry. Thankfully my school is open and I get to go to Yoga.
I'm pretty sure your supplemental education is better than my total education :)
