Believe

This year they all believe.  I know this may be Ethan's last year.  He already doesn't wear character clothes anymore.  I know that once there is doubt in his mind, it may pass to Ellie.  She says things like "actually" and "seriously".  So this year the guy in the big red suit is getting talked about a lot and Dale and I are relishing this year of believing.

Among all the hustle and bustle, the things we "have" to get done I have to step back and look at things through their eyes.  To them lights are full of beauty and wonder, not a pain in the ass to put up.  Picking out gifts for people and wrapping presents is fun and not a chore or another thing to check off the endless list of things to do.  Traveling to distant lands like Kansas and staying in a hotel is a fun adventure (it sure will be an adventure).  The difference between us is perspective.  I hope to keep their perspective in the next week.  It is so easy to get caught up in the adult responsibilities and trying to please everyone.

So here is to living in the moment and believing in the magic of the season.  I hope you find it easy this year and it doesn't go by too fast.
