The Path to Self Discovery

There are times in your life that you know are going to change you or shape who you are and who you become, like getting married, having a baby or someone dying.  But sometimes the day to day things end up teaching you more about who you are and what makes you tick.  Being back at home with my children has opened my eyes to some self truths.  Here are a few things that I have learned or accepted:

  1. I'm getting eye wrinkles and I'm okay with it (most of the time).
  2. Kids have bad days just like everyone else.  There will be bad days.  If we didn't have them then everyday would be mediocre and the good wouldn't be as good.
  3. I emotionally overeat.  I'm working on that one.  I'm replacing over-eating or emotionally over-eating with hard core cleaning.  The house is cleaner and I'm losing weight.  Double like.
  4. I like my clothesline.  Not because I'm saving money or the Earth (those things are nice) but because I feel such a connection to nature when I'm hanging something up and the wind blows.
  5. If I take time for myself, even just 5 minutes, my household benefits.
  6. I can't stay up as late as I used to and still function properly the next day.  Bummer, huh?
  7. The kids will not always appreciate all that I do for them.  Sometimes they will take me for granted.  Thats okay, they'll have their own kids someday!
  8. Nearly everytime I take all four kids anywhere someone says "You sure have your hands full!"  Why yes, I do and...I would rather have my hands full than empty.
Everday we learn something new about ourselves, what have you learned?
