Mom to Mom: Trips to the Park

Jack likes to swing at the park now.  It would be nice if he liked to swing in his swing at home.  I guess we are moving out of that phase of home swinging and into another one.  Four kids at the park is really not a big deal if, its not super busy.  Now that Jack swings I'm finding it a lot easier to go to the park.  Sometimes the big kids even want to push him.

Something that helps me if its one of those crazy Oklahoma days where its been 40 degrees and suddenly hits 70 and everyone is at the park is what they wear.  I either match the girls or let them dress themselves, which usually results in something wild that is easy to spot.  Stripes and polka dots work really well.  I've never seen playground equipment in polka dots.  Also try non primary colors so they don't blend in with the equipment.

Have a toddler than tends to run off?  Make a game of staying inside the boxed area.  I did this with mine and now the bigger ones teach the littles.  Make a rule that when mom calls your name you answer!  If they are having trouble with this one, on the way there decide which animal they will answer as.  Where's Regan???  Roar!!! Works like a charm.  Now if only this cold weather would scoot out of here so we can get back to the park...
His first time in the swing.  Love this happy little guy!

:Who wouldn't want to swing next to this crazy gal?

  1. We took the kids to the park recently and I got on the swings myself. It's fun and cathartic in a weird way. I'm sure kids just enjoy the funny feeling in the belly. :)
