My Addictions

Currently I have a few addictions that for some reason I feel compelled to share with you, whoever you are!

1. Wool.  Specifically cashmere and merino sweaters.  I have found it to perhaps be the most perfect material.  It's soft and warm but breathable.  I have so many ideas for it.  Some that I have started and others that are in my mind just waiting to come to fruition.  I need more alone time!

2. Old Plates and Mason Jars.  I have found infinite uses for both and they are becoming quite an obsession.  I'm almost done with my Dining Room remodel and when I am I will show you.  Lets just say it includes both of those addictions.

3.  Coffee.  Not some fancy schmancy stuff just coffee and cream, no sugar.  I am rather cranky without it.  So much so that my husband went to the store very early this morning because we didn't have enough to make a whole pot.  He really loves our kids.

4. Marshmallow Mateys.  Yes generic Lucky Charms.  This is probably because growing up we only had things like Grape Nuts and Cheerios.  I'm enjoying some right now, in a cup with no milk.

5. Goodwill and Garage Sales.  Although I love Goodwill I have one complaint.  Recently they have raised their prices to a ridiculous level ($10 for very used kids boots is a rip off) .  It's Goodwill, it supossed to be cheap! Nonetheless I go about once every 2 weeks.  Sometimes I don't find anything but I have found some great pieces like some barely used Children's Place pink boots for Ellie, a shaggy pink  Target rug for the girls, plates, the cutest dark pink velvet jacket for Ellie, some hip European red rain boots for Regan and some Born shoes for me.  If you have never worn a Born shoe you're missing out.  They are so comfortable!  I love the thrill of the bargain hunt. So on Thursdays and Fridays I don't mind taking Ellie to school because there is at least one garage sale.

6. Facebook on my IPhone.  Oh my goodness.  I'm sure I check it 3 or 4 times a day at least!  It could have something to do with nursing also.  There is only so much you can do when you know you will be sitting for at least 3 hours out of the day.

7. Vintage Jewelry and Buttons.  I have a DIY that will blow your socks off.  But you will have to wait until closer to Christmas.

8.  Four little people.  They are all my favorite.  Ethan for his sensitivity and concern for others.  Ellie for her love of nature.  Regan for her daring nature and sweetness (most of the time).  Last but certainly not least Jack for his morning smiles and he is the only one with my eye color.

I wish that I could say I was addicted to things like reading and cleaning but I'm not.  I like old fashioned things mixed with new things, I am truly the product of my grandmothers.  One was the perfect homemaker of five children, she baked, sewed and her house was always perfect.  The other was married 4 times, traveled the world and never held anything back.  I like to think I am a balance between them.  My addictions certainly reflect that, except for maybe the Marshmallow Mateys and IPhone!
